CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION REPRESENTATIVE Location Miami, FL : Salary $38,235.18 Annually Location City of Miami, FL Job Type Full-Time Job Number ******** ORG Department Resilience and Public Works Opening Date 10/23/2023 Closing Date 11/3/2023 5:00 PM Eastern Nature of Work Work involves varied, moderate to advanced level clerical work, which entails extensive public contact. Work involves a high level of discretion to determine inspection schedules, enter data, direct visitors and callers to appropriate departments/persons, conduct research and assist in resolving conflicts between various parties. Work involves following established procedures and assisting with developing procedures designed to improve efficiency. Work involves problem solving, based upon knowledge gained through experience. Employees will receive detailed instructions on new work assignments. Advice is usually available when handling and resolving difficult, important or non-routine matters. Employee will be granted latitude resolve routine conflicts based on experience. Supervision is received by checking work accuracy, occasionally or as needed. Essential Functions Coordinates inspection schedules utilizing applicable computer software application for inspectors in reference to construction permits/projects.
Follows up on the status of inspections and service requests for citizens/contractors.
Works with inspectors, supervisors and contractors to resolve inspection conflicts, either in person, via telephone, and e-mail.
Receives, and logs right of way complaints from the public in reference to stormwater drainage, damaged sidewalks, tree trimmings, street lighting, etc. and forwards them to appropriate section/division/department.
Provides the public with an explanation and interpretation of City ordinances, policies and procedures, and assists with completing city forms related to inspections/permits.
Researches and follows up on complaints.
Enters and compiles data for and prepares daily, monthly, annual and special reports.
Assists with logging and maintaining account records and receipts for permits.
Determines the nature of customer's business and provides appropriate information or directs to correct section/division/department.
Performs routine clerical tasks not requiring typing proficiency, such as typing, filing, copying, taking and routing messages.
Maintains records of inspections completed.
Reviews all documents for completeness.
Notarizes all documents relating to Department functions.
Performs other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements High school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience involving public contact in a public works, construction or related field, preferably with a governmental agency, two years of which must have been in inspection coordination, construction/permit plan processing or other related areas.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experience.
SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS: Notary Public certification must be obtained within six (6) months from date of appointment.
