General description The Comptroller's office is seeking a Accounting Specialist IV in the State Energy Conservation Office. The work involves complex (journey-level) accounting work. Work involves assisting in the preparation of financial statements, records, documents, and reports. Will specialize in some phase of accounting work, that includes federal and state funds accounting, property and equipment control, cost, and budgeting. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The candidate will learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in highly active environment and changing circumstances. This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree Two Full-Time years of experience in government contracting and/or accounting. Preferred Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, finance, or accounting Substitutions One additional year of Full-Time experience performing government contracting and/or accounting work may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years). In this role you will Have knowledge of: Fiscal programs; governmental accounting; budget control methods, policies, and procedures; and laws and regulations pertaining to financial operations. State contracting guidelines; State accounting systems, theory, and practices; and, State appropriation and budgeting procedures and guidelines. Be skilled in: The use of a computer and applicable MS Office Suite software programs The use of cloud-based financial reporting software programs Effectively conveying information and encouraging an exchange of ideas (Communication) Identifying, defining and solving problems (Problem Solving) Have the ability to: Implement plans in a timely and proactive fashion Gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts Learn new concepts and apply knowledge appropriately Evaluate and interpret policies and procedures Communicate and present effectively Work with others to achieve a common goal (Teamwork) Adjust to changing workplace demands (Adaptability) Meet the needs and expectations of internal and external customers (Customer Service) Effectively demonstrate skill and ability to perform the specific job duties and tasks as defined by a (Technical Competence) Be dependable, meet deadlines and produce high-quality work (Workload Management/Productivity) Veterans: To receive veteran's preference a copy of your DD214 (Member 4) is required.
