Composite Technician
Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a defense contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired systems; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.
How you will be rewarded as a Composite Technician- Monday-Thursday work week working four 10-hour days- Off on Fridays- Generous paid time off and Holiday Pay- Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance- 401(K), employee assistance programs, flexible spending accountPrimary Responsibilities: - Assist in the development and optimization of the production of composite tubes
- Fabricates, cures carbon fiber composite tubes.- Builds laminated assemblies in a filament winding operation, apply composite, plastic and metal parts and adhesives onto tools or molds.- Troubleshoot equipment, monitor process parameters, adjust equipment settings as needed to obtain parts that meet customer drawings and internal requirements.- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings- Set up spray booths to apply etching and primer compound to tubes- Load/unload winding machine mandrels into oven, run cure cycles- Pull mandrels from composite structure (de-mold)- Operate compression test machine to verify proof loads- Run daily production quantities- Recognize and report all operational variances as trained- Ability to use a computer and database to download work instructions- Basic knowledge in using precision measuring tools, i.e. micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.Required Experience & Skills:- High School diploma or General Education Diploma ( GED ) is required- 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing and processing of advanced composite materials preferred- Ability to interact and communicate as part of a highly functioning team- Must be able to read, write and speak English- Ability to obtain BATF approval to work with our products.
