Full job description Position Description The Joint Community Police Partnership (JCPP) is seeking multiple Joint Community Police Partnership Liaisons to facilitate positive dialogue and collaborative working relationships between the community and local police departments. These positions will collaborate with either the Minnetonka, Bloomington or Edina Police Department and its residing residents. These positions will evaluate community needs and coordinate activities that foster relationship building among all stakeholders, including facilitating communication through a Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee, plan, and support community engagement events, serve as a mentor for police department cadets, and respond to critical situations that occur in the community related to law enforcement.

Location and hours:
These positions will work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on city events. Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as possible.

Bloomington Police Department located at 1800 W Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN 55431 Edina Police Department located at 4801 W 50th St. Minneapolis, MN 55424 Minnetonka Police Department located 14600 Minnetonka Blvd. Minnetonka, MN 55345 About these position types :

Essential Functions In these positions, you will: Collaborate with police officers to evaluate current community needs. Design trainings and experiences to address community and departmental needs. Conduct outreach activities for the residents of Bloomington, Edina, and Minnetonka Police Departments. Recruit, interview, and facilitate a multicultural advisory committee (MAC). Work with the community to identify additional research and training needs for police officers on community issues, including the development, collection, and interpretation of cultural and organizational data. Lead and facilitate collaborative community meetings and present information for the benefit of police officers and community. Write strategic site plans in collaboration with police departments and community members. Qualifications Need to have: One of the following: Eight or more years of general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or experience in community engagement, environmental education, community/public relations, or environmental justice. Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, communications, public administration, public relations, urban studies or other field appropriate to the position and four years or more of general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or experience in community engagement, environmental education, community/public relations, or environmental justice. Nice to have: Working knowledge of the city and history of Minnetonka, Bloomington and Edina regarding the police department(s) and community interactions. Experience: Facilitating discussion in diverse groups that may be emotionally charged and find consensus. Working in law, safety, and/or justice field or settings. Utilizing social media platforms to reach and disseminate information to the community. Collecting, analyzing, and reporting data. With Microsoft Office programs to present data, reports, and recommendations. Working or volunteering in a police department or corrections setting, or with a multicultural committee or group. Managing and monitoring grants or a program budget. Supplemental Information Ability to: Build and nurture collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external customers, including community and police partners. Recognize and respect cultural differences and be responsive by providing culturally appropriate services. Work independently and successfully manage multiple priorities and projects. Apply problem solving skills and make data driven recommendations for action and/or change. Conduct logical thinking, gather, and analyze information, design and test solutions to problems, and formulate plan.

The City of Edina offers a competitive benefits package and uses a "cafeteria plan" model, which gives the employee a monthly sum of money and allows them the flexibility to choose how to spend it on the various benefits offered. Supplemental Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Care plans Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Free and confidential service for all employees and their families Vacation/Sick Leave/Holidays: Paid vacation is available to all regular full-time employees and begins with accruing 3.08 hours/paycheck (10 days per year). The amount increases as the years of service increase. Sick leave accrues at 3.69 hours/paycheck (12 days per year). Each regular full-time employee is eligible for 13 paid holidays during the year. Part time & Seasonal Employee Benefits: Extended Part-time (30-39 hours/week year-round): Eligible for Health Insurance, 13 paid holidays, Retirement, and Employee Assistance (EAP) program. Employees also accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. Regular Part-time (20-29 hours/week year-round): Eligible for 6 paid holidays, Retirement, and Employee Assistance (EAP) Program. Employees also accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. Flexible Part-time and Seasonal employees: Employees accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked and are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Individual benefits may vary slightly depending on the specific position, full or part-time status or union contract.
