Position Summary The Community Director provides leadership, management, supervision, and development for a residence hall or apartment community. The position provides direction to the residential experience within an on-campus residence hall or apartment community and creates a community that fosters academic excellence and personal growth for its residents. This position also promotes an inclusive living learning environment and partners with a diverse group of staff, students, and faculty to develop and implement programs that are in alignment with the mission of the department and university. This position is responsible for crisis response, assisting students with conflict resolution, and serving as a student conduct administrator. Responsibilities include a variety of administrative, operational, and conference related functions associated with the management of the residence hall/apartment community. The Community Director position is a live-in position and is appointed on an annual basis. This is a pool posting and will fill 2 vacancies across campus.

Work Hours
This is a live-in position in an MSU residence hall. CD's hold daily work-week hours and share on-call duty responsibilities with other CD's on Campus. Also occasional evenings and weekends for events, trainings, and/or selection processes.
All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Masters' degree in a human services related field, such as in student personnel, counseling, or a related field; one to three years of full time related and progressively more responsible or expansive professional experience as a director in a residence hall or apartment community; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
