Communications Intern Calling all ocean lovers: Do you want to make a difference protecting and restoring abundance to the world's oceans? Then, this might be the perfect opportunity for you. Oceana is looking for an organized and enthusiastic Communications Intern to join our Global Marketing and Communications team.
The Communications Intern is responsible for tracking and circulating Oceana's media coverage in the United States and internationally, conducting research, building media lists, and drafting and editing materials. The intern ultimately helps Oceana's communications team achieve their goals of increasing public awareness of Oceana and raising its profile among key audiences.
This position requires a strong communicator who is detail-oriented, team-oriented, organized, interested in conservation issues, and familiar with news organizations. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires strong multi-tasking skills and a customer service attitude.
Strong candidates for this position will be recent graduates with a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field. The Communications Intern reports to Oceana's International Communications Manager. This position is full-time (40 hours/week) and based in Washington, DC.
Oceana is the world's largest advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation. With more than 300 victories that stop overfishing, habitat destruction, oil and plastic pollution, and the killing of threatened species like turtles, whales, and sharks, Oceana's campaigns are delivering results.
