With senior housing above the Market's storefronts and a network of social services woven throughout the historic district, the Pike Place Market Foundation welcomes and supports a diverse community in the heart of downtown Seattle.
Established in 1982, after a decades-long fight to save Pike Place Market from the wrecking ball, the Market Foundation was established to fulfill the Market's historic charter to provide services and support for our community, especially our neighbors living on low incomes.
Rooted in our model for a healthy community, the Market Foundation improves the health and well-being of our neighbors by promoting and increasing access to education, nutritious food, community support, economic stability and a safe neighborhood.
As a community foundation, we provide annual support and partnership to a network of social services in Pike Place Market in addition to operating our own programs and services through our community resource center, The Market Commons.
Together, with the support of our staff, service partners, volunteers and donors, we are reaching our vision to nurture a healthy Pike Place Market community so that everyone within it can live their best life possible.


Role Responsibilities: 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Coordinator position assists with developing and executing marketing and communications for the Pike Place Market Foundation – supporting fundraising campaigns, events, community outreach, and community impact stories through print, email, web, social media, and other channels.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains Market Foundation visual and language standards, ensuring that all external marketing and communications remain consistent with our vision for a welcoming, informative, and cohesive brand.
Writes and produces content in the form of blog posts, interviews, historical reflections, event messaging, community impact reports, programmatic updates, and other donor communications.
Collaborates with marketing consultants to design campaign brands, print newsletters, print collateral, and event promotions – creating additional assets in Adobe Creative Suite and templates in Canva.
Develops social media content and executes both organic and paid campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and LinkedIn. Monitors activity and develops recommendations for advancing engagement strategies, tools and platforms with our Donor Relations Analyst.
Manages the Market Foundation website using WordPress, maintaining site organization standards and optimizing all content for web. Collaborates with Donor Relations Analyst to optimize site performance and improve User Interface and Search Engine Optimization.
Promotes The Market Foundation by representing the Foundation at community events, industry associations, or similar gatherings.
Collaborates with program staff and partner agencies to interview community members and create socially relevant content that examines how inequities affect our neighborhood and community.
Supports fundraising and events staff with internal tools and materials: including posting jobs, sourcing images and text, creating internal designs, ensuring sponsorship marketing benefits, and maintaining brand guides.
Captures photos of community members, community events, and fundraisers for promotional use, as well as coordinates with a team of volunteer photographers to capture additional images.


Candidate Qualifications: 
The ideal candidate for this position will have a demonstrated commitment to non-profit organizations.
Demonstrates people skills and the ability to foster collaboration, inclusion, respect, optimism and gratitude in an ever-changing, open office environment in Pike Place Market.
Communicates respectfully and effectively with the diversity of the Pike Place Market community, including senior residents, Market businesses and workers, social service agencies, and many more people from all walks of life. Possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and exercise good judgment and diplomacy.
Proven skills and experience in the following areas: Exceptional writing, communication and public speaking; proficiency in social media engagement and analytics across a variety of platforms; Demonstrated photography skills and aptitude for oversight of projects; Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects with a variety of stakeholders and competing deadlines.
Commitment to ensuring marketing and communications are written and communicated intentionally with diversity, equity, and inclusion for all peoples as a top priority.
Must be able to work independently, and as part of a team, conduct analysis of projects and make recommendations about best practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Email Marketing Software, Adobe Creative Suite and Content Management Systems is desired.
