The Office of Student Financial Support is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Communications Associate. Reporting to the Director for Financial Aid & Scholarships, the Communications Associate is a member of the management team within the Office of Student Financial Support. The Communications Associate works closely with the SFS leadership team to develop and implement policies, procedures and communication plans to ensure that Office and University wide goals are successfully met.

The Communications Associate is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive financial aid communications strategy, with a sharp focus on our message of access and affordability. This position plays a key role in ensuring the digital presence and materials are clear, consistent, cohesive, integrated, and aligned with the mission of Financial Aid across all digital channels, including websites, social media platforms, email, and chat bots.
Specific duties & responsibilities :
Develop and implement a multi-channel communications strategy that enhances user engagement, access to resources, effectively tells the Hopkins financial aid story of affordability to target audiences (including students, parents, high school counselors), and includes metrics and assessment opportunities to measure impact and effectiveness.
Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies and best practices. Ensure SFS messaging is uniform, cohesive, integrated, personalized to target audience, and aligned with institutional objectives. Provide insight on how financial aid policies and processes should be positioned in communications materials for prospective, incoming and continuing students. Serve as communication liaison with University Communications and Undergraduate Admissions to ensure all content is uniformed with the University brand. Manage the overall SFS communications and editorial calendar, and work collaboratively with campus partners to execute the highest-quality work. Oversee the Financial Aid content management for the Homewood Financial Aid website, Net Partner Portal, Slate Portal, and Student Information System Portal, including leading recommendations and edits to the financial aid letter and COA section of the applicant portal. Develop #how-to# resources (such as infographic/videos), messaging, and financial aid presentations to boost awareness of various financial aid topics. Produce high-quality, branded marketing campaigns and deliverables, such as messaging toolkits, social media strategies, video content/webinars, and advocacy communications, while ensuring compliance with established university and divisional guidelines. Leverage data from in person visits, e-mail inquiry, phone calls, surveys, FA workshops/events, and campaigns to inform communication decisions. Create and manage financial aid communications dashboard/report to regularly measure the impact and effectiveness of communication and marketing activities. Liaise with other key stakeholder offices to identify communications opportunities as new initiatives are conceived, developed and launched. Lead the SFS Financial Aid Messaging and Presentation working group. Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to think critically and develop strategic messaging, including experience developing media strategies. Familiarity with online communications platforms and content management systems such as WordPress, and other tools for editing and publishing web content. Knowledge of best practices for analytics, content strategy, search engine optimization, and usability/user experience; solid understanding of WCAG 2.0 guidelines to ensure accessibility of web content. Familiarity with a variety of social media tools and the metrics that drive success within those tools. Sophisticated understanding of today's digital landscape, including new and emerging technologies and platforms as well as usage trends among undergraduate and graduate students. Flexibility in dealing with a very diverse culture, and commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population. Knowledge of HTML/CSS. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) a plus. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in communications, writing or similar field or the equivalent of training and experience required from a regionally accredited college or university. Three years related experience in traditional and digital communication; including social media, website, and digital platforms. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Masters Degree or equivalent experience preferred. A minimum of 5 years professional communications experience. Experience working in college/university admissions and or financial aid. Classified Title: Communications Associate

Starting Salary Range: Min $62,300 - Max $109,000 Annually ($85,000 budgeted; Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
