Our highly visible Public Information Office seeks a talented, responsible, multi-tasker to assist the Village's Communications and Marketing efforts as a Communications and Marketing Manager.  This important role will p erform professional level work related to the dissemination of information regarding Village operations to the media groups and civic organizations, employees and to the general public. This position will perform various communications/public relations activities, publication design, social media, and complete special projects for the Village of Orland Park.
Regular and consistent attendance is required for this role. 
Duties of this role include the design, writing, editing, research, content coordination, accuracy, and launch of the Village's quarterly newsletter to the public and annual report. The position p repares news releases, placed news stories and/or photographs, media advisories and photo opportunities for media outlets, both print and electronic. The role performs various writing assignments as requested by the Mayor's Office, Village Board members, Village Manager's Office and department directors. In addition, the role l ivestreams Village Board Meetings. 
The role produces scheduled and specialty publications, programs and paid advertising, including writing and gathering information, editing, desktop publishing/design, taking/placing photographs and revising drafts based on input from supervisor. The role works directly with outside printers to facilitate professional printing when required. The position c ommunicates with departments village-wide to gather content for publications, writes, edits and publishes as appropriate.
This position also researches; schedules videographer, talent and guests; and oversees logistics for shoot locations on the production of videos. The position is r esponsible for municipal messaging/marketing including media relations and m ay assist in the implementation of marketing campaigns for village programs, special events, and activities.
Additionally, this role provides management and oversight of contract graphic design, layout and copyediting for village created content/publications handled by the Communications Division. The position d esigns promotional pieces, e., flyers, brochure, posters, etc. as requested by various departments and p hotographs, videotapes, livestreaming village programs and special events as requested. 
The role uses social media platform to promote village events, news, programs, and information. The position regularly updates the village social media including the Village Facebook, Twitter and YouTube giving the village a timely presence online.
This position will also maintain   departmental web site content, as needed and d evelops updates and maintains News Flash and calendar areas of the village website. The role may assist with web page creation/maintenance for various village departments/entities and maintains/updates event planning, promotion and management as needed. The role c ompletes special projects as assigned.
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, journalism and or related field is required.
The candidate must have f ive to seven years of related marketing, communications or public relations or related experience. Experience with graphic design is preferred. This position also requires excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal skills as a well as the ability to work under limited supervision are also needed. Strong computer skills are required.
In addition, this role must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe software is required; for example Word, Power Point, Access, Excel; InDesign, PhotoShop Adobe Premier and Illustrator.
The Village of Orland Park's competitive salary and benefits package consists of an annual salary of $76,969 - $107,754, depending on experience & qualifications, along with a comprehensive employee benefits and wellness program which includes four (4) medical insurance plan options; village-sponsored dental, vision, and life insurance plan; a discounted membership to our Sportsplex facility; enrollment in IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, in addition to the opportunity for voluntary participation in a 457(b) plan through Nationwide.
