This is a grant-funded position and reassignment will be based upon performance, progress toward research goals and continuation of funding. Some travel required.
Purpose
The Communications and Marketing Manager position will develop and implement a communications strategy for the Addiction Research Institute (ARI) and associated programs in accordance with priorities established by the Addiction Research Institute (ARI) executive team.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Addiction Research Institute (ARI) executive team to develop and implement a strategic plan for communication and media relations that elevate the national presence of the institute and associated projects.
* Coordinate and mange engagement with media. Prepare research materials and talking points under advisement of Director to assist executive team members and/or other designations in their management of media inquiries.
* Coordinate communication and marketing duties as assigned to promote the Addiction Research Institute (ARI) and its programs, events, and projects.
* Develop annual communications strategy and brand awareness plan for the Addiction Research Institute (ARI) and associated programs in accordance with priorities established by the Addiction Research Institute (ARI) executive team.
* Implement communications plan. Update and adapt plan based on priorities identified by the executive team. Coordinate resources and staff to meet goals as directed.
* Plan, create and post social media content on Addiction Research Institute (ARI) website and social media channels.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in communications, digital marketing, journalism, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience working in communications, journalism, media relations, public relations, or marketing. Demonstrated expertise with WordPress and Google Analytics. Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. Ability and flexibility to work in a fully team-centered environment. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Some travel required. Values the contributions of others in the work environment.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
More than required years of experience working in marketing and communications. Experience working in higher education, public policy, or nonprofit settings. Experience with copy writing.
Salary Range
$65,000 - $70,000 depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
* May work around standard office conditions
* Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
* Ability to work remotely
Work Shift
* M-F, Flexible between 8am-6pm
