Summary:
Our Company is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Commercial & Residential Construction Superintendent to provide support for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating workers, materials, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding safely, on schedule, and within budget. The Superintendent works under the direct supervision of the Project Manager (PM). The Superintendent's direct reports are Field Techs and various trades of subcontractors. Qualified Applicants must have Construction Superintendent experience. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Holds primary responsibility in the field for the success of projects assigned, including detailed daily field reports (job logs), communication with the PM on day-to-day basis, timely identification of problems and proposals of creative solutions. Responsible for managing daily activities of projects, coordinating with others to ensure that jobs are clean and well organized. 100% job safety and compliance in following all procedures and practices, conducts regular project progress meetings, and fosters teamwork among all involved parties. Ensures proper subcontractors and staffing on jobs to complete work efficiently and effectively. Maintains open, daily communication with PM, Foreman, and Field Staff. Fosters an enthusiastic, creative, "can do" attitude and shares the responsibility for JLV Construction and department goals. Manages and controls project costs, completes estimated hours and costs to complete reports. Performs regular update meetings with field, client, and senior manager. Fosters an enthusiastic, creative, "can do" attitude, and shares responsibility for the Company and overall department success in reaching its goals and helping to develop the team. Performs other duties and supports special projects, as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for supervision of Field Techs and various subcontractors. Competencies: Bilingual in Spanish and English highly encouraged Proficiency with computer and smart phone. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Practical construction knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and plans. Ability to manage priorities and workflow. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects. Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams. Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Motivation for personal and professional growth. Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. Ability to understand all safety requirements and precautions. Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. Education, Experience, & Qualifications: Five (5) years of equivalent or related experience, with Superintendent t experience required. (Commercial and general contractor experience highly preferred.) Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace – Bilingual skills are a plus. (English/Spanish) Understands design intent and works through high levels of detail, ability to read and interpret plans, details, and specifications. Can visualize in three dimensions from two-dimensional data. Computer literacy – computer estimating, complete competency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and industry specific software for managing change orders, job costs, and related project commitments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and work flows simultaneously, both independently and as a team. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Ability to effectively communicate with a diversity of individuals at all levels and from various backgrounds. Must be able to exercise judgment and ensure discretion and confidentiality. Physical & Mental Demands The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will need to regularly lift and/or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 75lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception. Read, analyze, and interpret data (emails, blueprints, memos, letters, etc.); maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time. Work Environment Regular and predictable attendance is required. Workdays and hours coincide with job site and/or office hours. This job operates mostly in the field , with occasional visits to the office reviewing progress and meeting with project stakeholders. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices.
