Coatings Lab Technician

Coatings Lab Technician This position in Detroit, MI for an Industrial Coatings Lab Technician with Industrial Coatings Experience. Works with lab samples and/or performs tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics of paint for the purpose of product development and problem resolution. 
Responsibilities:   Compounds, tests and adjusts small batches of paint under the direction of senior laboratory personnel. Paints parts/plaques/panels to be used for testing and/or demonstration purposes. Conducts specification testing and complaint investigation work as directed by senior laboratory personnel. Professionally documents work utilizing Laboratory Notebooks and the LR system. Maintains, operates and calibrates laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, pH meters, viscometer, chemical balance scales, colorimeter, and other equipment. Controls R&D inventory of raw materials, ensuring that proper labeling standards are maintained. Assists in maintaining a professional, organized laboratory by keeping all lab equipment, fixtures and common work areas clean and orderly.
