The ideal candidate will be responsible forprogramming and operating robotic welding equipment to perform a variety ofwelding tasks, ensuring high-quality production and adherence to safetystandards. This role is crucial in supporting the manufacturing division ofRolling Stock.What Your Day May Look Like:Precision Setup and Operation:Work under limited supervision to set up andoperate precision machines and robotic weld cells to fabricate metallic partsor assemblies.Apply basic knowledge of welding theory,procedures, and mathematics in daily tasks.Fixture and Material Management:Select, align, and secure holding fixtures,attachments, accessories, and materials on welding machines or worktables asrequired.Calculate and set controls to regulate machinefactors, such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, type of gas, and type ofweld rod.Operation and Inspection:Operate and observe robots to detectmalfunctions or non-conforming conditions.Perform trial runs and operate in teaching modeto verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.Fit and assemble parts into complete assembliesusing jigs, fixtures, surface plates, surface tables, and hand tools.Verify the conformance of finished workpieces tospecifications and perform visual inspections to maintain quality records withminimal supervision.Non-Destructive Testing and Maintenance:Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) andanalysis of spot welds using prescribed equipment.Follow all safety procedures and wear safetyequipment or apparel as required.Perform daily maintenance and cleaning ofmachines and workcells per established checklists.Collaboration and Problem Solving:Confer with engineers, production personnel, orothers to resolve welding or robot operation problems.Perform basic robot programming and weldtouch-ups as needed daily.What Will Make You Successful in This Role:Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.Degree or certification in Robotics,Mechatronics, or Computer Science preferred.Experience:At least 3 years of experience in machining,fabrication, and/or robot operation.Hands-on experience operating/programmingSinumerik 840D controllers for CNC machines or robotic welders in amanufacturing environment (1-4 years).Experience with Arc Welding and ResistanceWelding applications, with appropriate welding certificates preferred.Skills:Above-average computer skills.Proficiency in CNC and/or robot programming.Ability to read blueprints and use precisionmeasuring tools such as dial indicators, micrometers, and gauges.Strong mathematical skills and the ability toread and write effectively.Technical Knowledge:Sound mechanical ability to work on robot dresspackages and peripheral equipment such as weld guns.Knowledge of spot welding and plasmatronicwelding processes, robotic welding equipment, tools, and programming in a stainless-steelmaterials environment is a plus.Additional Information:All candidates are subject to pass a backgroundverification and drug screen upon offer completion. While performing the duties of this job, theemployee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms,stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit,use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, climb orbalance, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or movemore than 100 pounds using a crane. Specific vision abilities required by this jobinclude close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperception, and the ability to adjust focus.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, theemployee is regularly exposed to airborne particles. The employee frequentlyworks near moving mechanical parts, works in high, precarious places and isoccasionally exposed to vibration.The noise level in the work environment isusually moderate to high.The hourly rate for this position is $26.00 to $34.40.This position also is eligible for 10% shift differential for 2ndshift and 20% shift differential for third shift.
