Clinical Research Assistant

This is an entry level position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder. This position provides coordination support for multiple projects in the conduct of clinical research projects. This position supports the daily study activities of two NIH funded clinical trials focused on insomnia and alcohol use as well as insomnia and cannabis use.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Scientific Concepts and Research Design Ethical Participant Safety Considerations Investigational Products Development and Regulation Clinical Study Operations (GCP's) Study and Site Management  Data Management and Informatics Leadership and Professionalism Communication and Teamwork  Position Specific Responsibilities will Include : 
Conducting participant recruitment, screening, and obtaining informed consent. Tracking recruitment efforts in study databases. Managing sleep study activities including equipment set up, participant check in, and schedule management.  Scheduling and preparing materials for baseline eligibility and therapy study visit activities; scheduling and conducting study follow-up assessments including actigraphy equipment.  Attending and planning for study team meetings. Additional responsibilities include data entry and cleaning, attending trainings, and risk assessments as needed. High school diploma or GED. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. An appreciation for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace as well as with research participants.  The candidate for this position must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.  The candidate must be able to work independently for extended periods of time while receiving feedback and guidance from project managers and faculty investigators.  The job will require flexibility to meet project deadlines and goals; therefore, a strong ability to problem solve is highly desired. The abilities to adhere to strict confidentiality is also a necessity. Ability to work with a diverse range of participants is required. Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.   An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.  Previous experience with clinical research in substance use/alcohol use preferred but not required.  Experience with more advanced software packages (SAS, SPSS, MATLAB) and data platforms (RedCap, MiChart, OnCore) also desirable.  Experience with collecting EEG physiological data in research or clinical settings. Previous experience working with mental health and/or with substance use populations is preferred. Ability to maneuver through technology and remote communication. The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week mostly weekdays (M-F), 9am-5pm although some night/weekend shifts will be required.
