About the Role:
Are you passionate about teaching and coaching? Join our team to inspire and guide students both in the classroom and on the field. We are looking for a dedicated Classroom Teacher/Coach who will not only help students excel academically but also cultivate their athletic skills and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Coaching: Develop and deliver effective teaching strategies and coaching techniques to enhance students' skills in the assigned sport.
Performance Evaluation: Establish criteria for competition, and regularly assess students' athletic abilities.
Supervision: Oversee athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to foster individual growth, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
Safety: Ensure the safety of student-athletes and the proper use of equipment and facilities.
Compliance: Stay informed about and ensure adherence to all rules and eligibility criteria for extracurricular activities.
Collaboration: Work with school staff to plan and implement educational goals and objectives.
Logistics: Assist in scheduling competitions and coordinating necessary arrangements (for head coaches).
Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Professionalism: Present a positive role model and maintain a professional, ethical, and responsible demeanor.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate preferred.
ESL Certification required within six months of employment.
Ability to obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License and TEA bus driving certification within 90 days of employment.
Experience:
Four years of experience as a coach or participant in the relevant sport is preferred.
Skills:
Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
Understanding of rules.
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
Additional Duties:
Compile and maintain necessary reports and records.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies.
Travel with student-athletes and supervise them during competitions.
Promote sportsmanlike conduct and maintain discipline among students.
Engage with the community and foster support for the school's athletic programs.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent travel, prolonged and irregular hours, outdoor exposure to elements, and bus driving with related certification requirements.
