Job summary
The Classroom Assistant provides direct support in a classroom setting to students with developmental disabilities and/or emotional/behavioral challenges.Work in collaboration to implement behavioral, instructional, socio-emotional, daily living skills, and/or medical protocols.Assist the Teacher and Assistant Teacher with instruction and assessment for students with developmental disabilities and/or emotional and behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities
• Implement behavioral, instructional, socio-emotional, daily living skills, and/or medical protocols.• Assist with instruction and assessment for students with developmental disabilities and/or emotional and behavioral challenges.• Adhere to behavioral plans/protocols as written.• Utilize principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).• Use behavior management strategies and implement approved physical intervention procedures.• Support skill acquisition, daily living skills, medical needs, and behavior management in various settings.• Promote and support peer interactions and generalization of student skills.• Modify tasks and materials to meet student needs/abilities.• Collect and record data accurately and timely.• Follow classroom routines, fitness routines, and enact proactive classroom management strategies.• Organize, prepare, and use school materials to support student learning and assist with technology implementation.• Engage in meetings, trainings, and school-wide events.• Drive and operate Institute vans to transport students and staff members, as assigned.
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required.• Associate's degree in education, special education, or related area preferred.• Previous experience working with children with developmental disabilities is preferred.• PCM or CPI training will be provided by the department.• Must achieve and maintain certification according to departmental policy.• Full COVID vaccination or documentation of medical and/or religious exemption(s) approval is required.
Key Skills Needed
