Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will work on challenging civil/environmental engineering projects involving data collection, planning, and problem-solving in the water resources field. Project responsibilities may include water quality sampling, survey, field data collection at wells or project sites, erosion control inspection, construction observation, sampling equipment preparation and monitoring, data reduction, spreadsheet preparation, CADD, assistance with construction plans and specifications, and assistance with report preparation.Minimum Qualifications:Two-year technical certificate or equivalent training and work experience directly related to the job responsibilities described aboveTwo years of experience as a civil technician, designer, or in related area of practiceAdvanced Autodesk Civil3D design and plan production skillsFamiliarity with preparing cost estimates based on take-offs for feasibility and/or construction projectsExperience in developing, using, and interpreting construction and site development plansExperience with preparation of contract documents for construction projectsAdvanced mathematical and computer skillsAbility and willingness to conduct field work independentlyComfortable working on and around water and/or ice-covered water bodiesThorough and organized approach to work with strong attention to detailFlexible working style, self-initiative, self-motivation, and a willingness to work with teams to meet clients' needs and project schedulesAttention to detail and ability to provide quality deliverables in accordance with deadlinesStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clientsProficiency with Microsoft 365 Office, specifically Word and Excel softwareL egal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futureV alid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Three or more years of experience as a civil technician, designer, or in a related area of practiceSurvey experience performing leveling, total station, laser scanning (HDS), and GPS data collection with data reductionErosion control inspection training and experienceConstruction observation and project administrationProficiency with any of the following software programs: Bentley MicroStation, Bentley GeoPAK, Leica, or other point cloud processing software.FAA Part 107 sUAS Pilot LicenseA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.NOTE: Must be able to work in locations that may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and conditions typical of industrial facilities.
