Position Title: City Treasurer (Appointed)
Compensation: The monthly compensation for the treasurer shall be $393.00 and $10.00 per hour rate of pay for additional meetings outside regularly scheduled Council Meetings.
General Statement of Duties: It shall be the duty of the elected/appointed treasurer of the City of Pierz to, on a monthly basis, review and oversee the financial accounts of the City of Pierz.
Job Duties: The listed examples may not include all duties performed by the position in the job title. Duties may vary somewhat. Prepares information and assists outside auditing firm with annual audit Oversees payment of claims according to sound financial practices Assists City Administrator in preparing the annual budget and making recommendations on the proposed budget Reviews expenditures, receipts and quarterly budget reports; discusses changes and unexpected expenses with department heads and/or Council; transfers funds as authorized by the Council Monitors proposed regulations and legislation affecting the City financially Review and Cross check each bank transaction by verifying the balance of the checkbook for each City account and fund Review and make recommendations for transfer and investing of all City funds Present to the Mayor and Council a monthly statement of funds, as prepared by the City Administrator, at the first Council Meeting of the month Acquire the knowledge and abilities required to maintain all City financial transactions in the absence of the Administrator Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Considerable knowledge of municipal financial management including investment of funds, accounting, payroll, billing and financial record keeping. Considerable knowledge of City ordinances, resolutions, and policies. Considerable knowledge of State and County elections procedures and operations. Considerable knowledge of laws, rules and regulations affecting City government. Considerable ability to communicate effectively and establish effective working relationships with City staff, state and county officials, Council, and the public. Considerable knowledge of data privacy issues affecting City government, and records maintenance and retention requirements. Considerable ability to maintaining accurate and complete records. Considerable ability to prepare a variety of financial reports and to oversee administration of the City budget. Working ability to analyze data and make recommendations. Must have a working knowledge of accounting, financial management and must possess an ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must have mature judgment and decision-making ability. Must possess ability to handle public contact with friendliness, responsiveness, and tact. Preferred Qualifications: MUST permanently reside within Pierz City limits 2 year degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field with a minimum of two years experience in City government or Finance related field OR a minimum of 5-7 years' experience in Business, Finance, Accounting, or any related field.
