The Position:
The Children's Coordinator under the guidance of the Children's Counselor will assist with the Children's Education and Enrichment/Homeless Outreach Program (CHOP). The Children's Coordinator will also conduct brief counseling assessments, present referrals, and support to children while working to assist their family experiencing homelessness and residing in our Sojourner's Homeless Shelter.


Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work. Minimum 2 years of experience in supportive counseling and interventions. Additional Requisites: Develop, implement, and monitor educational programming. Excellent classroom organizational and management skills. Knowledge of the homeless population specifically as it relates to children/youth. Strong communication skills oral and written. Work effectively independently and with diverse groups, participants, and staff. Knowledge of community resources and the ability to work collaboratively with other agencies. Ability to assist in training and coordination of a statewide project. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.  Work: around moderate noise, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and lift or carry up to 10 lbs. Must pass a criminal background check. Responsibilities: Develop and implement education and enrichment activities.  Provide training, coordination, and other supportive services statewide.  Provide crisis intervention, brief counseling, and community services for children and their families who are experiencing homelessness and experiencing (SED) who are residing in shelters.  Coordinate and train in specialized interventions, utilizing community resources throughout the state. Effectively work with children/youth utilizing 2nd Step and other evidence-based programs to achieve specific goals and objectives and make appropriate treatment and social service referrals.  Encourage and engage parental involvement to develop better decision-making skills.  Encourage parental involvement beyond initial interventions. Work flexible hours or evenings to better meet the needs of the children and youth activity programs. Maintain accurate records, oversee the collection of statistical information, and completion of required monthly reports. Develop and implement program evaluations with input from co-workers in the Children's Program Network and coordinate services with local and statewide treatment providers and social service agencies related to the Children's Program. Provide oversight and guidance with weekly meetings. Ability to adhere to policies and procedures for operating a YWCA vehicle.  Other duties as assigned.
