Job Summary About St. Luke's Community House St. Luke's Community House creates a community where children, families, and seniors from different backgrounds can easily access the resources needed to live fulfilling lives. Founded in 1913, St. Luke's has continually responded to the needs of the community and has evolved into a place where residents from across Nashville, Tennessee, and surrounding counties can access multiple services under one roof. 
St. Luke's empowers children, families, and seniors to live fulfilling lives by providing access to food, childcare, case management, and wraparound services. We feed hungry individuals and families through our Food Bank and Mobile Meals programs. We help prevent and end family homelessness and disrupt cycles of poverty through the work of our Family Empowerment Program. Our diverse Child Development Center prioritizes the needs of low-income families who cannot afford the rising costs of childcare while providing a literacy-rich education for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. We also offer seasonal programs, such as free tax preparation and holiday support, to further enrich the lives of people in our community.
Through collaboration and partnerships with other nonprofits, St. Luke's is a critically important service hub in the Nashville community.
Position Summary The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St. Luke's Community House will lead an organization deeply ingrained in Nashville's history and community fabric. The CEO will continue and expand upon St. Luke's mission of serving individuals and families across all stages of life, providing a comprehensive range of services that address critical needs including childcare, food insecurity, social support, and more. The incoming CEO will inherit a dedicated team of staff and a highly engaged board, providing a solid foundation for growth and impact.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for evaluating, developing, and overseeing the delivery of all programs and services in accordance with the organization's stated purpose and strategic plan, and in such a manner that optimum results are achieved in relation to the resources of the organization. The CEO will represent St. Luke's through interaction with a wide range of entities and provide the leadership and foresight to broaden awareness and support of St. Luke's services with funders, key stakeholders, and partners.

Job ResponsibilitiesPosition Responsibilities Relationship Management The CEO is responsible for initiating and maintaining frequent and close working relationships within and outside the organization, including members of the board of directors, the senior management team, program directors, and other St. Luke's team members, as well as community partners, other nonprofit organizations in Middle Tennessee, and St. Luke's supporters and constituents. 
Organizational Administration & Strategy Develops and recommends to the Board of Directors specific, written, long and short-range plans for the development of the organization's programs and services to ensure long-term ability to deliver upon the organization's mission.Communicates proactively and effectively with the Board and provides all information necessary for the Board to function successfully and make informed decisions.Evaluate the services being provided by the organization in relation to board-adopted Strategic Plans and specified goals & standards, and recommend modifications where appropriate.Develops policies for the effective and economical operation of the organization.Leads with a deep commitment to principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in terms of organization staff, clients, and processes and procedures.Courageously advocates for equity and works collaboratively with all staff, to establish and maintain a workplace valuing racial, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, and all other forms of diversity, while promoting equity in all facets of the work.Supervises, directs, and evaluates key staff in performing their duties. The CEO supervises the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Development Officer, and Chief Programs Officer.Provides overall control and direction for the personnel function of the organization, including active participation in, or approval of, personnel actions.Responsible for the direction and performance of an organization with an operating budget of over $4,000,000 and with a staff of more than 50 employees.Fiscal Accountability Directs all financial operations of the organization, working in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer.Prepares organizational budgets in partnership with leadership staff and is held accountable for control of these resources once approved.Maintains awareness of the organization's financial position and proactively initiates actions, as needed, to ensure financial stability and maximum resource utilization.Ensures reasonable financial controls and recordkeeping are maintained by senior management and staff. Resource Development Responsible for revenue development through fundraising and other means of increasing and diversifying revenue, working in partnership with the Chief Development Officer.Works with the Chief Development Officer, development staff, Board, and the Board's Development Committee to develop yearly plans and strategies for increasing fundraising through all available means.Partnering with the Chief Development Officer, the CEO leads fundraising activities to support the operations budget and, if applicable, capital campaign budgets and to grow the endowment through appeals to the following sources: Direct Mail Appeals, Special Events, Foundations, Individuals, Grant-makers, Governmental entities, Institutions, Businesses, Churches, the Thrift Shop and any other organizations identified as likely funders or donors. Leads all community relations and serves as key organizational spokesperson. Programmatic Operations & Community Engagement Responsible for the strategic direction and operations of all programs and services, working in partnership with the Chief Programs Officer.Ensures ongoing mission delivery, programmatic excellence, and rigorous outcomes evaluation.Collaborates and engages in opportunities to partner with other organizations and community partners to extend and optimize quality services to clients.Interprets and communicates the function of the organization to the community through a public relations program.Remains current in knowledge of social service and early childhood education trends and activities by maintaining involvement in the professional field and imparts this information to the board and staff.Acts to maintain highly effective client relations under all the organization's programs.Encourages board members, key staff, and volunteers to participate in opportunities at various civic meetings, churches, and businesses.Ensures St. Luke's serves as a thought leader in the Nashville community through various committees and community engagement.Performs other related duties.QualificationsMinimum Requirements Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a degree in a human services-related field. A Master's Degree or relevant work experience is preferred but not required.At least seven years of relevant professional experience (nonprofit experience is highly preferred), including at least five years of supervisory and administrative responsibility.Demonstrated experience cultivating successful relationships with grantmakers, funders, and donors.Programmatic leadership experience; experience in social services and/or early childhood education sector a plus.Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans across an organization or at least a major organizational department or unit.Reasonable understanding of nonprofit fiscal management, including working knowledge of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.Organizational management experience, including hiring, developing, motivating, retaining, and counseling management and staff.Experience developing strong and effective relationships with a diverse group of Board of Directors is preferred. Other Desired Qualifications: Willingness to engage partners, community funders, and clients.Team and Action-oriented.Excellent Communicator.Innovative.Ability to prioritize and/or adapt programmatic needs for a transitioning community and expanding geography.Passion for the mission of St. Luke's and serving the Nashville community. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/general public, clients, and/or vendors.Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste or smell.Ability to lift 25 pounds.Other Requirements The Position requires the incumbent to have a valid driver's license, a personal motor vehicle with current registration and insurance, and a clean driving record for the last three years.In addition, the candidate must be able to pass a drug test and have a clear background check, as conducted and required by the TN Department of Human Services.Skill Competencies Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong attention to detail.Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and database administration.Demonstrates a high level of follow-through.Excellent verbal and written communication.Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Successful collaborative skills working with a variety of groups.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Additional InformationBenefitsThe position of CEO is a 40-hour-a-week, full-time position.?A full benefits package is offered, including agency-paid group life, and short & long-term disability.  Medical, dental, and vision plans are offered and subsidized by the agency with a minimal employee contribution. A 401K plan is available to employees with both Traditional and Roth options. The 401K plan also has an employer match of up to 6% after 1 year of employment. Employees receive a generous time off package with paid holidays and an additional 5 weeks of PTO per year.
Salary Range: $140,000 – $155,000 per year annual salary, commensurate with experience.
