Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). Our Mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all. The Chief Development Officer (CDO) advances Marin Community Clinics' mission by developing, implementing, and managing its fundraising and external communications strategies and activities, and addressing issues that may hamper success. A member of the Executive Team, the CDO is responsible for creating, leading, and implementing a multifaceted communications and fund development strategy. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CDO will develop new donor and community partner relationships while maintaining existing ones to build the organization's visibility and financial resources.
Prior work history in community healthcare (Federally Qualified Health Center, FQHC) clinics is highly desired.  Foster a culture of philanthropy and ensure that fund development is in keeping with the organization's values and mission. Work closely with CEO to evaluate financial needs and establish fund development priorities accordingly. Create and implement an Annual Development Plan with a balanced mix of activities, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted, private revenue. Establish performance measures, monitor results, and evaluate the efficacy of the fund development program and adjust where indicated. Work with CEO on public relations and outreach to increase knowledge and awareness of the organization's mission, activities, and the value of its work. Oversee multifaceted communications strategy and ensure integrated messaging and branding in all materials. Advance fundraising goals by soliciting and stewarding individual, corporate, and foundation donors and securing appropriate grants. Partner with CEO to deepen existing funder relationships and cultivate new supporters. Maintain accountability and ensure compliance with all regulations and laws, as well as the code of ethics for fundraising professionals. Hold and steward a portfolio of donors and oversee donor cultivation program, including coaching CEO, board members and fundraising volunteers. Oversee grants compliance and deliverables in concert with cross-functional staff. Assess grant opportunities with Development staff and make recommendations to CEO. Serve as an ambassador and articulate mission to stakeholders and potential funders. Collaborate with staff and Finance to produce regular analytic reports that synthesize the financial progress and trends of fundraising activities including grants. Evaluate and drive the use of new technology communications, marketing and funding vehicles including social media, leveraging the organization's website and online tools. Keep abreast of developments in philanthropy and fund development. Other projects and duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities :
Supervise Development Team composed of staff and consultants. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required in related discipline (such as Public Health, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration or related field). Master's degree preferred.  Minimum six years' experience in managing fundraising and communications projects and teams. Prior work history in community healthcare (Federally Qualified Health Center) clinics is highly desired.  Required Skills and Abilities Ability to represent organization with a high level of professionalism. Proven track record of success in fundraising. Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills that foster teamwork and promote a positive work environment. Analytical thinking and ability to solve complex problems and analyze data. Competency with Microsoft Office programs. Preferred Skills Knowledge of Marin County and its community-based organizations and leaders. Knowledge of HRSA requirements for Federally Qualified Health Centers Bilingual in English and Spanish Physical Requirements and Working Conditions This work requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequent standing and moving around facility. Prolonged sitting at a desk, using keyboard, monitor and mouse. Repetitive motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Occasional travel within Marin County including Marin Community Clinics sites.
