Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, a prestigious and vibrant hotel located in the heart of Tempe, Arizona, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chef de Cuisine to lead our Neighborhood Services Bar + Restaurant kitchen. As the culinary heart of our hotel, Neighborhood Services offers a unique dining experience with menus crafted around breakfast, lunch, dinner, and private events. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled chef who is passionate about creating from scratch, leading a team, and contributing to a welcoming culture.
As the Chef de Cuisine, you will be the lead chef in the kitchen, reporting directly to the hotel's Executive Chef. This full-time position requires flexibility with availability throughout the week, as the outlet operates 7 days per week. The ideal candidate will be a versatile and skilled chef, accustomed to scratch cooking, and possessing strong leadership qualities to develop a team of culinarians. Your responsibilities will include executing diverse menus, managing food and labor costs efficiently, and collaborating closely with the front of the house team to ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Lead and manage kitchen operations for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and private events. Develop and execute menus that reflect the ethos of Neighborhood Services, focusing on high-quality, from-scratch dishes. Oversee and participate in the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring culinary standards and operational guidelines are met. Manage food and labor costs effectively, including ordering supplies and controlling inventory. Train, mentor, and develop a team of culinarians, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning. Collaborate with the front of the house team to ensure seamless service and a memorable dining experience for guests. Uphold and enforce safety and sanitation regulations and ensure EcoSure and food standards are met. Participate in planning and executing culinary events, promotions, and special menus for holidays and special occasions. Address guest feedback with professionalism and make necessary adjustments to meet and exceed expectations. Perform any other job related duties as assigned. Proven experience as a Chef de Cuisine or similar leadership role in a high-volume kitchen. Culinary degree or equivalent professional certification. Exceptional skill in scratch cooking and menu development. Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing culinary teams. Knowledge of best practices in kitchen management, including food and labor cost management. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with front of the house staff and management. Flexibility with scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and special events. Passion for creating a welcoming and inclusive team culture. Commitment to upholding the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.
