UofL Health is hiring for a medical coding specialist positionThe specialist will assign and validate ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT codes for outpatient servicesThe role involves supporting revenue cycle processing and billing
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Review and evaluate medical record documentation for accurate code assignment• Apply coding guidelines and criteria for code and modifier selection• Resolve coding assignments and charge errors on a daily basis• Maintain productivity standards for pre-bill edits• Ensure timely and consistent capture of assigned charges• Perform coding audits and collaborate with team members• Adhere to coding guidelines, ethical coding standards, and compliance policies• Participate in ongoing education and training• Comply with company policies, HIPAA requirements, and confidentiality standards• Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
• High School education or GED required• Completion of a Certified Coding Program• Three (3) years outpatient coding experience• Three (3) years of prior oncology coding experience preferred• Prior billing and experience with billing systems preferred• Nationally accepted Certified Coding Credentials required• Experience with government and commercial payers a plus
