About this job
Avum is seeking a DoD-focused change management specialist to develop and execute change management strategies, communication plans, and training programs to support the adoption of new processes, technologies, and organizational structures. In this position, you will assess the impact of changes, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful implementation and stakeholder buy-in.
Candidates must be a US Citizen and able to pass a T3/T5 background investigation. A DoD Secret Clearance is preferred.
Location
For this

fully remote

position, the candidate must be available to participate in virtual meetings via platforms like Microsoft Teams. Core hours are from 9 AM PST/PDT to 4 PM PST/PDT, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to support EST core hours as necessary.
As part of the remote setup, the candidate will collaborate with external project team members and Avum employees. Although primarily remote, occasional in-person meetings may be required, potentially including travel to government sites in Washington, D.C., and the Avum office in Agoura Hills, California.
Responsibilities include
Develop and implement change management strategies and plans to support a large-scale system implementation across the Department of the Navy enterprise.
Collaborate with product managers, development teams, and other stakeholders to create release plans that align with business objectives and project timelines.
Manage the end-to-end release process, including scheduling, coordinating activities, and communicating with stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate risks that may impact release timelines or quality, and proactively address any issues that arise during the release process.
Collaborate with project teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders to assess the impact of proposed changes and develop actionable plans to address resistance and ensure successful adoption.
Maintain release documentation, including release notes, deployment instructions, and version control information.
Conduct change readiness assessments, stakeholder analyses, and impact assessments to identify potential barriers to change and develop mitigation strategies.
Develop and deliver communication plans to ensure stakeholders are informed about upcoming changes, including key messages, communication channels, and timelines.
Design and deliver training programs, workshops, and other learning interventions to equip employees with the knowledge and skills needed to adapt to new processes, systems, and ways of working.
Provide coaching and support to leaders and managers to help them effectively lead their teams through periods of change.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of change management initiatives, gathering feedback and making adjustments as needed to ensure successful future release implementations.
Serve as a subject matter expert on change management principles, methodologies, and best practices, providing guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.
Generate reports and metrics to track release progress, performance, and quality, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Skills and Experience Desired
Change Management-related training and associated certification(s).
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management processes.
Proven experience in change management roles, preferably in a government or military setting.
Strong understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to build relationships and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute change management plans, including communication, training, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Experience in conducting change readiness assessments, stakeholder analyses, and impact assessments.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with release management tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jira, Jenkins, etc.) is desired, but not required.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and principles is desired, but not required.
Certification in release management (e.g., ITIL Release Control and Validation) is desired, but not required.
Educational/Work Experience
A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study that provides substantial knowledge useful in change management and is closely related to the work detailed above, and/or in management, information systems, physical science, or engineering, or an applicable training certificate from an accredited training institution.
Salary
Starting salaries for this position range from $114,400 - $176,800 and are commensurate with experience. The position is full-time, salaried, with benefits.
