The mission of the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) is to safeguard the public's health and well-being by providing guidance for, and regulation of, entry into the profession, nursing education and continuing safe practice. The Board of Nursing administers ORS Chapter 678 and OAR Chapter 851 to license, investigate charges against, and discipline Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Anesthetists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nursing Assistants and Certified Medication Aides. OSBN provides service to approximately 81,000 licensees under the jurisdiction of the Board who provide nursing care to persons in the state of Oregon. The Board determines licensure and certification requirements; interprets the Oregon Nurse Practice Act; evaluates and approves nursing education programs and nursing assistant training programs; issues licenses and renewals; investigates complaints and takes disciplinary action against nurses and nursing assistants who violate the Oregon Nurse Practice Act; maintains the nursing assistant registry; and administers nursing assistant competency evaluations. The Board prepares and manages approximately a $15 million biennium budget. In addition to the 58 FTEs on staff, there is a nine member Board appointed by the Governor and numerous committee members from various healthcare interests. The Board along with the Department of Human Services is responsible for certain components of OSBR 1987, the Nursing Home Reform Act. The Board's regulation of certified nursing assistants and medication aides must meet Federal Standards. Funding for regulating the CAN population is received as Medicaid and Medicare transfers from DHS. This position is with the Nurse Investigations Department, which investigates both suspected nurse practice and non-nurse practice violations of the Nurse Practice Act, and recommends appropriate disciplinary action to the Board. This position is represented by SEIU. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required. Here's what you will do: As the Case Coordinator, you will assist a team of investigators with case management activities throughout investigative processes that are governed by administrative law. This includes: Research Obtaining records Documenting facts Producing legal documents to reflect Board actions Here's what you need to qualify: Minimum Qualifications: Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; OR An associate degree in general office occupations and two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Requested Skills: Skill in composing written communications such as responses to inquiries, narrative reports, instructional materials, etc. Skill in coordinating diverse activities to ensure completion of projects, tasks, and assignments. Ability to learn and work within specific agency programs or operations, policies and procedures affecting assigned work. Ability to analyze, evaluate and solve procedural problems.
