Classification Title:Carpenter
Job Description:The Carpenter with IFAS Facilities Planning and Operations inspects and performs maintenance and preventative maintenance on all UF/IFAS owned buildings. Duties will include:
Performs carpentry, finish carpentry, cabinet fabrication and associated preventive maintenance without the need for daily supervision. Requires use of state vehicle for traveling to work sites. Assists other trades as needed. Installs plumbing, electrical, HVAC, cabinetry, and related equipment. Performs various renovation tasks such as painting, paneling, drywall, and masonry. Other duties as assigned. Expected Salary:$19-21 hourly, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Minimum Requirements:Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in carpentry; or a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Maintenance of valid Florida driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong background in finish carpentry and cabinet fabrication; at least five years of experience.
