Job Description The Career Pathway Mentor will support the Hispanic Health Council's Lego Robotic Program for youth and work closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure a safe, educational, and fun learning environment for all participants.
Responsibilities: Assist the Program Coordinator in the development of a plan for career mentorship and ensure that each activity/event is consistent with program goals and objectives. Ensure that all children attending the program receive the necessary support and guidance on their career journey. Provide resources for skill development according to their age and help them to overcome obstacles. Assist in the attendance tracking and data-keeping protocols. Help participants understand different career paths by providing insight into robotics or any other education and professional development. Provide tutoring, assistance, and academic support to children. Provide one-on-one or smaller group interventions to youth as needed. Assist in organizing and managing program activities, including educational and recreational activities. Serve as a role model for the youth. Attend staff meetings, training, and other relevant program-related meetings as required. Performs related work as required. The program will run for 12 weeks with a total of 50 hours.
This is a grant-funded position. The position is contingent on grant funding .
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of education, specific to school-aged children. Experience in mentoring or coaching youth. Understanding of various industries and career paths Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.) Ability to implement program initiatives, and engage in lesson plans and activities. Ability to work independently. Ability to display professionalism through interactions with staff, participants, and families. Strong communication and organizational skills Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or Current College student
