Career Center Principal – Kalamazoo, MI. Could you make a difference? We're seeking a Principal for our client's campus, a 167-square-foot, world-class facility in Kalamazoo, MI that will serve 9 local K-12 school districts in shaping the future workforce.
The principal will guide a team of 80 + teachers and support staff as they work to transform the community by empowering learners to build fulfilling careers.
Through core values, collaboration, innovation, compassion, respect, and trustworthiness, the principal will act as a role model for students, educators, families, and employers as they help students meet the workforce demands of a prosperous economic region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Recruit and retain outstanding educators to provide the highest quality instruction and support to students, families, employers, and schools. Create and foster a welcoming, professional, and inclusive environment in the career center that enables students to achieve their career development goals. Ensure focus on commitment to anti-bias, and anti-racist principles. Implement an effective system of staff supervision/evaluation to spur growth and student achievement. Develop supportive relationships with students, families, employers, and partner organizations. Provide resources to support all students working to eliminate barriers and obstacles to their success. Lead continuous improvement efforts of the center working in collaboration with teammates using impact data. Coordinate efforts with state, regional, and local agencies whose purpose is to help students succeed. Develop and maintain effective communication with stakeholders including business partners, community leaders, and local school districts. Collaborate with internal programs, especially career learning initiatives, Provide oversight and access to school district support services for all student success. Collaborate with partners to serve families and the community beyond the scope of the typical school day. Implement state-of-the-art career and talent development software that supports the education, development, and career plans of students and employers. Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of career and technical educators. Provide professional development opportunities for instructional, support, and administrative personnel. Closely monitor teaching practices to ensure rigor and best practices occur in all classrooms. Certificates, License, Registration: Certified State of Michigan School Administrator or school administrator experience with the ability to become certified within one year after hire. Minimum Skills and Education: Master's degree in career and technical education, secondary instruction/educational leadership, or a related business degree. Experience as an outstanding secondary/postsecondary teacher, principal, or educational administrator. Experience implementing programs relentlessly dedicated to all students/people's success and outcomes-based results. Demonstrated skill in fiscal management, business, and program development. Strong interpersonal skills with people of all ages. A demonstrated passion and training for working with diverse populations. Working knowledge and experience with career and technical education, guided pathways, apprenticeships, and middle colleges preferred Experience in providing social and emotional development to at-risk youth with a proven track record of helping them attain 21st-century skills improving their probability of success. Successful business experience preferred.
