WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is eligible for hybrid telework workweek. POSITION PURPOSE: Improves student performance in Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes by providing support to CTE teachers in improving instruction. Assists with implementation of the CTE curriculum. Provides technical assistance and support to teachers and other CTE staff to improve the instructional process, document student learning, and improve student outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps; Knowledge of current instructional improvement practices and issues in CTE; Knowledge and understanding of the use of the NC Teacher Evaluation instrument and processes to improve instruction; Knowledge of best practices for working with new/lateral entry teachers; Knowledge of strategies to assist with the implementation of standards in core content areas (Mathematics, English, Science) into the CTE curriculum; Demonstrated effective leadership and team building skills; Ability to assist CTE teachers in the integration of literacy and numeracy into the CTE curriculum; Ability to assist CTE teachers in the integration of instructional technologies to improve instruction; Ability to plan and implement individual and group professional development for teachers and other CTE staff members; Ability to assist teachers in analyzing data to drive instruction; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administration, support staff, and other stakeholders. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree and current North Carolina license in any Career and Technical Program Area; Five years of work experience within the past eight years as a CTE teacher OR in a professional support position such as: Career Development Coordinator, Special Populations Coordinator, Curriculum Instructional Specialist, or Instructional Technology Specialist -Computers and/or Telecommunications. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator's license in the area of Curriculum and Instructional Management Coordinator; Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC's requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in developing and implementing/delivering professional learning for topics such as curriculum development, data analysis, or literacy; Experience working with adult learners and understanding of adult learning theory; Proficient use of on-line tools for collaboration. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures teachers have correct curriculum and instructional management tools (curriculum, pacing guides, blueprints, etc.). Ensures teachers are using data to inform instruction including support for interpretation of data and consequent goal setting, lesson planning, and assessment development (formative and summative). Provides professional development to improve instruction (integration of core academic standards in CTE, differentiation, SIOP, instructional technology, integration of literacy and numeracy in CTE) to individual or groups of teachers (such as PLTs). Models best practices for teaching and learning. Assists in administration and scoring of CTE Proofs of Learning. Assists in the development, monitoring, and improvement of all CTE Performance Indicators and goals. Provides assistance and supports to new and lateral entry CTE teachers including facilitation of Beginning Teacher Institute, PLT meetings, informal observations, and coaching. Performs other related duties, as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position operates in an office and childcare setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff of external agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. This position requires driving automotive equipment.
