Bruin Pantries provide supplemental food and hygiene items for SLCC students and staff. The Bruin Pantry staff lead will work closely with the coordinators of Bruin Pantries, Bruin Pantry specialists, and Bruin Pantry Peer Leaders (PPLs) to create a welcoming and inclusive environment and to connect visitors with resources on and off campus. The Bruin pantry staff lead will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations in the pantries, inventory control, delivery, sorting, supporting staff scheduling, and communication efforts, assisting with database entry for pantry usage and donations and other duties as assigned. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Act as shift lead, assist coordinators and other peer leaders Assist in communicating and training other peer leaders on pantry related expectations and responsibilities Run & maintain delivery, distribution, and coverage for assigned pantries Prepare (prep) for the following day. Ensure food is safe and labeled appropriately, stored in proper location, and ready to use. Assist coordinators in execution of pantry checklist and responsibilities, this includes but is not limited to temp logs, patron waivers, weekly slips, UFB standards, etc. Attend 1 hour virtual team meetings Perform related duties as required or assigned such as pantry projects Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued: Minimum Qualifications: Must be enrolled in 9 academic credit hours during Fall and Spring semesters. Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA during the time of application and each semester. Work between 15 and 20 hours a week. Must participate in CIP professional development activities. To view pantry hours please visit: Bruin Pantries | SLCC Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Critical thinking/problem solving: Ability to think of food systems on a global and state level to understand root causes of the food insecurity.Addressing food insecurity on campus through creative means, partnerships and relationship building while also connecting to resources on campus to address other needs of the students at SLCC.Teamwork/collaboration: Collaboration with different offices at SLCC, tuition waiver students, coordinators at Thayne Center, and volunteers.Professionalism/work ethic: Understand that the CIP role is vital to pantry operations and be dependable. CIPs are expected to treat the pantry users of different backgrounds respectfully.Oral/written communication skills: This position relies on effective communication in person, emails, and phone calls.
