Lucid is looking for a talented and motivated Engineering Tools Technical and Support Specialist to join our Headquarters support team in Newark, CA. This position requires an experienced professional to support the organization with assistance on engineering software tools, identify business process gaps, and implement efficient and effective solutions.Our ideal candidate exhibits a proactive attitude with an appreciation for learning and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesPrimary / initial support for Lucid’s HQ (Newark, CA)Coordinate with team members across all Lucid sites to communicate issues and collaborate on solution development and delivery.Works with engineering teams in Newark and other sites to understand functional requirements.Works with the Engineering Tools/PLM team across all sites and lucid IT to understand the out-of-the-box (OOTB) capabilities and limitations of the current toolsets including Design, CAD/PLM, Simulation (e.g., FEA, CFD, etc.), Digital Factory, math modeling, etc.Serves as the Level 1 contact for technical and licensing issues – working to help solve application issues with the engineer, Lucid IT and software tool providers (including OEM and service provider).License management including the assessment of needs for different teams and troubleshooting of licensing issuesManagement of engineering tools issues in Lucid’s corporate helpdesk management toolsDocumentation of issue resolution and growing the corporate knowledge bank QualificationsWorking Familiarity with tools preferredFEA/CFD (e.g., Abaqus, ANSYS LS-DYNA etc.) and associated toolsMath Modeling (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink)Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Automotive engineering experience preferred.Scripting / programming (VBScript, Python, C++ etc.) skills a plus SkillsStrong experience in CAD / PLM tools – CATIA experience required, strong preference for 3DExperience / CATIA V6Part designSurface DesignDraftingWorking knowledge of 3DExperience roles, access, licensing models, P&O security, and Change ManagementStrong communication skills (written and oral) for one-on-one support and presentation to groups (e.g., user forums) Ability to work both independently and with a broad spectrum of business partners (internal and external) and drive timely resolution.
