POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Buyer to join our team in White Bear Lake, MN. This full-time position offers a competitive salary that reflects the depth of experience and expertise we expect from the ideal candidate. As a Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in driving our purchasing strategy, both domestically and internationally, to support our global operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategically manage purchasing requirements utilizing MRP systems, analysis of requisition reports, manual spreadsheets, and inputs from various departments including the shop floor, engineering, and management. Lead negotiations with suppliers on pricing, delivery schedules, quality standards, payment terms, and tooling requirements to optimize costs and efficiency. Execute purchase orders with suppliers for a wide range of needs including production parts, services, etc, ensuring the best terms. Champion the initiative to dual source critical items, enhancing supply chain resilience. Proactively manage and expedite orders to address backorders and urgent needs. Spearhead the identification, vetting, and onboarding of new suppliers, working closely with engineering and business development teams to expand our global supplier network. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards across the supply base and collaborate across departments to resolve quality issues effectively. Conduct comprehensive evaluations of suppliers, focusing on quality and delivery performance, to foster a high-performance supply chain. Lead the coordination of international shipments, including documentation and customs clearance, leveraging extensive experience in global logistics. Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering to manage the lifecycle of parts and materials efficiently. Process, review, and code invoices for payables, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgetary guidelines. Execute all tasks with a focus on cost management, productivity, and safety, maintaining a professional approach at all times. Maintain optimal inventory levels, ensuring the availability of production parts and minimizing excess stock. Take on additional responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the company's goals. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, with a strong preference for candidates with international buying experience. Demonstrated success in a strategic purchasing role, with a track record of driving cost savings and efficiency improvements. Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to analyze diverse datasets and make informed purchasing decisions. Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across different cultures and regions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A deep understanding of operational KPIs and their impact on financial and business outcomes. High level of organization and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with NetSuite ERP or similar systems is highly desirable. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
