Position Overview: The Busser is responsible for ensuring that customers have an exceptional experience while at the Bob's Red Mill Whole Grain Store, Restaurant, & Bakery. Specifically, the Busser is responsible for keeping the dining area neat and clean at all times. This position will interact with customers when clearing dishes and resetting tables. This position will also assist in keeping the kitchen and service areas clean, stocked, and ready for next day's business.
Essential Job Functions: Bus, clean, and maintain an organized dining area. Performs pre-bussing by cleaning dirty dishes and clearing trash from a customer's table. Puts clean dishes and utensils away in their proper locations. Clears, cleans, and prepares dining areas. Takes out garbage and recycling at prescribed times. Maintains the self-service beverage areas. Responds positively to customer's requests – such as refills and condiments. Partners with a server or manager as needed to ensure service remains a priority. Engage with customers in a polite, respectful, and professional manner. Maintains sanitation standards by sanitizing work areas before and after use and makes sure that all critical equipment is kept clean. Sets-up and stocks stations with necessary supplies, continues to restock supplies throughout the day. Ensure food/merchandise is properly stocked, labeled, and rotated in workstations. Must remain friendly and service oriented, even during times of long lines and high traffic. Ensure a clean, organized, safe, and respectful environment for guests and employees. Confront and resolve difficult situations in a proactive, objective, professional, and solution-oriented manner. Embrace change by being open to new ideas. Communicate effectively with individuals, groups, peers, management, and the public. Maintains food knowledge on all Bob's Red Mill offerings and confidently and accurately communicating that knowledge to customers. Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner. Complies with Bob's Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Performs other tasks and duties as assigned. Be willing to assist in other departments as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position reports to the Department Manager. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to move quickly and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task and stay focused and organized. Possesses good customer service skills and can interact with customers in a pleasant manner. Demonstrates Respect, Teamwork, Accountability, and Determination. Ability to work in an environment where exposure to potential food allergens is or may be present. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent; OR Any combination of education and additional years of experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned tasks. Must hold or be able to obtain a food handler's card. Must hold or be able to obtain an OLCC license. Physical Demands: Position requires continued walking or standing for up to 2 hours at a time. Position requires the ability to bend, squat, and climb stairs frequently. Position requires the ability to lift products weighing up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: The primary work environment for this position is within a large commercial kitchen utilizing a commercial dishwasher. While indoors, may encounter temperatures from 32°F within a cooler to 425°F around cooking equipment. Exposure to heat and high humidity around dishwasher. While outdoors, may encounter varied temperatures and weather while clearing and cleaning tables. Employees will be exposed to common food allergens.
