As the Business Systems Analysis Leader, you will direct a team of Businesses Analysts who are focused on supporting and enhancing internal software systems by working with end users, technology business partners, and third-party vendors. You will facilitate and translate the businesses requirements, so they are in alignment with the company's objectives and business operations. Developing and communicating the organizations vision and expectations to team members and ensuring it relates to the corporate vision and strategic direction is vital in this role.
You will partner with a variety of people within the organization and seek, and direct process improvements to increase efficiencies throughout all areas of the business.  In this role, you will be coordinating workflows work with developers, quality assurance testers, and users to test processes and ensure functionality and user acceptance.  Leadership will involve creating individual development plans for team members, hire new staff when needed and manage the performance management process.

As the IT Business Systems Analyst you will be responsible for gathering business requirements, conducting needs assessments, and developing functional specifications to ensure information technology solutions support business objectives. You will execute requirements gathering process that is thorough, captures all end user requirements, and provides all information to development teams. You will also work closely with the various leaders and teams within SFM to provide process efficiencies throughout all areas of the business and coordinate with developers, quality assurance testers, and users to test processes and ensure functionality and user acceptance. 
Responsibilities
Business Focus
Leads IS Business Analysts Team work including analyzing the business operations for improved business processes and efficiencies. Gathers business requirements, conducts needs assessments, and develops functional specifications for the development team. Works closely with business technical leads to determine business value and necessity of functionality changes to SFM systems and reviews questionable requests with CIO and/or executive who oversees that area. Motivates and inspires a team of Business Analysts responsible for researching and analyzing product changes, supporting and implementing product updates and regulatory changes across the organization. Drives new and innovative product enhancements to market, including aligning resources to support growth and profitability improvements. Creates a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and supporting process improvement opportunities and providing recommendations to help drive efficiencies and expense savings. Works closely with Software Developers to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction. Utilizes database tools for testing, trouble-shooting and providing data to business units on an ad hoc basis. Collaborates with business users and managers/leaders to understand, refine and prioritize business goals and information needs. Maintains and adheres to data management practices including data dictionary, data security, and data governance. Communicates and coordinate with business managers on software issues, quality problems and corrective actions. Creates processes and data flow diagrams to represent flow of data through system and the inputs and outputs of entities. Stays current on BA industry trends and recommends areas for improvement at SFM. Leads R&D and proof of concept efforts. Regularly meets with key decision makers such as the tech areas and SBU team leaders and maintains continuous communications regarding the status of current and potentially new projects where enhancements and efficiencies are required.   Leadership Focus

Provides team members with the tools needed for the team to accomplish stated objectives. Consistently provides feedback and communication to staff members related to company and team performance. Leads team members to make decisions based on established criteria/goals and monitors performance to achieve successful results. Defines and develops team member's job, responsibilities and accountabilities, in both a physical and virtual environment. Selects, coaches and retains staff. Inspires team members to attain goals and pursue excellence. Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for improved performance.  Effectively utilizes each team member to his/her fullest potential. Partners with and uses Human Resources as a resource for talent acquisition, training, and performance management. Provides training and development opportunities. Identifies and develops future leadership within the team.  Challenges team members to develop professionally or as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor. Manages the staffing of the BA Team with the support of the CIO, and performs all skill evaluations and appraisals for direct reports for the team. Encourages team members to continually update their skills through formal training classes, webinars, books, or other resources. Actively participates in the annual IT budget process. What We'll Love About You:
Bachelor's degree in Information Services, Computers Science, Business Administration, Statics, Business or Data Analytics or related field. 6 or years' experience working with business systems improvements. 5 or more years' experience working with insurance; either property-and-casualty, commercial or workers' compensation insurance, preferred. Experience with problem management, change control, and influencing change without direct control within a decentralized business unit culture. Experience leading people or leading projects. Inspires continuous quality and process improvements. Strong technical aptitude to lead R&D and POC efforts. Excellent project management skills. Ability to develop an effective team environment focused on team results. Familiarity of relational database concepts with practical understanding of SQL. Ability to coach, guide, and encourage staff toward improved performance. Serves as a positive role model to team members. Must be forward thinking with an eye on strategic thinking. Must be capable managing difficult situations and conducting critical conversations. Ability to apply confidentiality when appropriate. Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and work with minimal direction using effective delegation where appropriate. Practices FREER principles and SERVICE values and coach's employees to do the same. Physical Requirements  W ork takes place in a semi paperless environment within an office setting or home office setting, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, which requires being stationary for extended periods of time.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and work with close vision. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Work is performed indoors with little to no exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions.
