Position Summary/Description: It is the responsibility of the Business Officer in Global Studies to serve as the primary point of contact for all office management and administrative tasks within the Curriculum.
The Business Officer, in consultation with the Chair, is responsible for general budget oversight and reconciliation of the Curriculum's finances. The Business Officer serves as the primary point of contact with the College of Arts & Sciences Business Operations team for purpose of initiating accounting and HR transactions. These actions include, but are not limited to: purchasing card reconciliation, travel reimbursement, creation and payment of independent contractors and personnel actions for students, faculty and staff.
This position is also responsible for day-to-day office support, acting as the primary point of contact for faculty and the general public, monitoring and ordering office supplies and equipment, maintaining departmental calendars and schedules, serving as the point of contact with OASIS (IT support) and facilities. This position also conducts website content management, newsletter development, the coordination of Global Studies events, including venue reservation, speaker logistics, catering, promotional materials, audiovisual support, set-up and take-down of the event.
This position also supervises a full-time Student Services Specialist and the Curriculum's work study students and serves as the time management ( TIM ) administrator for the unit.
This position is crucial in the creation and implementation of Global Studies procedures and is expected to operate with considerable independence and authority with respect to routine operational decisions and must be able to communicate and adhere to University policies and procedures. Education and Experience: Knowledge of ConnectCarolina and Infoporte is preferred, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Previous administrative experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
