Organization
Responsible for evaluating business, operational, and technology practices and processes to enhance the quality and delivery of services to the University. Develops and implements specific functions to include comparative and analytical report production and preparation.
Duties: Performs analysis of operations management information and transactions and provides interpretation of trends. Identifies opportunities and explores new approaches for process improvement and innovation, operational efficiencies, and savings, which may include re-engineering existing business processes, re-designs workflow and recommends feasible IT solutions. Integrates processes and the roles people play within the organization to maximize operating results. Launches and manages process optimization and redesigns projects and other performance enhancement initiatives. Aligns business strategies with processes so that strategies are more quickly implemented, and objectives achieved. Creates viable process transitions plans that detail how the organization will effectively move from the present to the revised state.  Coordinates cross-functional efforts to focus on core process performance, strategic objectives, and customer satisfaction. Prepares analytical and statistical reports including budget data analysis, comparative studies, FTE reports, budget data projections, and State Regents reports for internal and external use. Prepares and produces the Annual Needs Request document for presentation to the University and State Regents through the design and use of customized electronic spreadsheets. Coordinates and oversees the guideline preparation, scheduling, on-line data entry and verification, and production of the Annual Operating Budget and associated increase Analysis reports. Assumes responsibility for verifying and approving funding on appointment and change of status forms as well as budgetary transfers. Interfaces with Budget Unit Heads and Dean's Offices to communicate procedures or problems.
Job Location
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance AND: 36 months experience in analyzing data, maintaining data bases, process improvement, or business related experience. Equivalency Substitution: Will accept 48 months experience in lieu of BS Degree for a total of 84 months of experience.
Skills: Proficient navigating and maintaining databases.Advanced knowledge of Access and Excel, able to manipulate and build spreadsheetsExperience with large data sets.Experience with Peoplesoft or other payroll softwareAdvanced computer skills with wide knowledge of business softwareAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal, communication and project management skills.Significant exposure to various operational and managerial workplace modelsWell-developed numerical skills, including the ability to perform complex financial analyses.Sound understanding of the principles of finance, valuation techniques, and financial statement analysis.Working knowledge of the technology marketplace and of available technology products and business solutionsFluent PC skills, including the ability to utilize basic office and various other analytical software applications.
