JOB OPENING FOR A Building Official AT THE Washington County Community Development Department FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS
$80,808 - $90,000 Annually DOE
Performs a variety of administrative, para-professional, and technical duties as needed to plan,
organize, direct and coordinate the daily operation of the building inspection function; assures
compliance with county, state and/or federal uniform building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical codes
and ordinances. Performs inspections on residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Performs as the County's Chief Building Official as described in various codes and regulations and
ordinances; plans, organizes and directs the overall activity of the Building Inspection division; manages
the day-to-day administrative requirements of the division; coordinates scheduling of inspections in all
phases of construction, alterations and repairs to assure adherence to current adopted building codes
and standards, plans, and specifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A . Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in
management, engineering, construction science, or a related field. AND B . Four (4) years of experience related to some aspect of building construction or inspection. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Qualifications: Must possess a valid Utah Driver's license.
Must be I.C.C. certified and possess a valid State of Utah professional Building Inspector's
license in all areas of residential and commercial inspection, including plan review, plumbing,
electrical, mechanical, and building.
