Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO Bookkeeper
(Full Time, Salaried) Based in Philadelphia, PA The Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO seeks a full-time Bookkeeper to support the Council's operations. The bookkeeper will work directly with the Council President.
The Bookkeeper has three main areas of focus: general accounting; preparing financial reports; and records management.
General Accounting: This role will manage the financial operations including but not limited to: payroll, accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations and journal entries. The Bookkeeper will assist with all audits including the Council's annual independent audit. This role will ensure that the Council and all subordinate financial entities are in compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
Preparing Financial Reports: The Bookkeeper will prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for all Council accounts. This role will assist the Council President in delivering necessary reports to the Executive Board, granting / contracting organizations, the National AFL-CIO and others if needed.
Records Management: The Bookkeeper is responsible for filing and maintaining all Council financial records in an orderly and accessible fashion. This role will cycle records annually and prepare the purge file once the mandatory or recommended record keeping period has expired.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements: Strong financial background including familiarity with GAAP Experience with Quickbooks and/or similar accounting or financial management tools Comfort with data entry, spreadsheets, and self-directed work Familiarity with the labor movement is a plus, but not required This is a collectively bargained position represented by Teamsters Local 623. Wages and benefits are competitive and include employer-paid health care, a pension and a 401k.
