A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $2,000 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE$1,000 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $1,000 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
This position will support operations, remote monitoring, data analysis, writing of scientific manuscripts, planning, coordination and conduct of multi-center research studies in the Department of Biostatistics of the Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC-Chapel Hill. A working knowledge of applied aspects of observational and clinical trials study design, data analysis, research data management and statistical programming is required. Experience with applied data analysis, such as linear and log-linear modeling, survival analysis and survey sampling, is recommended. This position demands the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments concurrently in this multi-center collaborative research environment. Intermediate-level computing skills, including SAS software, are essential to carrying out the statistical methods required of this position. The position requires the ability to analyze data and then interpret and evaluate the results. Demonstration of effective communication skills in the presentation of statistical results in both written and oral form is important. Good interpersonal skills are required for the position's frequent interaction with external stakeholders such as investigators and field center personnel as well as internal team members comprised of research staff, programmers, and other statisticians. The employee must understand and protect the confidentiality of study data to ensure the protection of human subjects involved in the research.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned; or Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and two years of research/analysis, preferably with one year in a supervisory role; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
This position will support data analysis, writing of scientific manuscripts, planning, coordination and conduct of multi-center research studies in the Department of Biostatistics of the School of Public Health at UNC-Chapel Hill. A thorough knowledge of applied aspects of observational and clinical study design, data analysis, research data management and statistical programming is required through a combination of academic training and work experience. Demonstration of effective communication skills in the presentation of statistical results in both written and oral form is important. Work experience in applied data analysis using linear and generalize linear models, and survival analysis methodology is required. The demonstrated mastery of SAS program language and statistical procedure skills will be critical to successful performance in this position. The employee will need to understand and protect confidentiality of study data to ensure the protection of human subjects involved in the research.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience working on complex health research projects requiring complex data management and analysis is highly desirable. Experience with other high-level statistical software packages (such as R or M-plus) in addition to SAS is desirable but not essential.

This SHRA Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. All recipients must sign the Pay Back Agreement form.
