THE OPPORTUNITY Highline College (HC) is seeking qualified applicants for up to 3 full-time Lecturer faculty positions in Biology. Candidates should be able and excited to teach primarily in-person courses in biology. Additional teaching opportunities may be available depending on the appointee's expertise. HC Biology Department lecturers teach an equivalent of 40 credits per year advise students, and participate in College activities.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree (or higher) in biology, medicine, or a closely related field from an institution with regional accreditation or its international equivalent. (Pending degrees must be completed by September 2024 and verified by a letter from the granting institution). Desired Qualifications: If these are not evident in your resume, be sure to discuss them in your letter of application/cover letter: Strong background in AT LEAST TWO of the following areas: microbiology, cell biology, anatomy and physiology, Majors animal biology. The Biology Department is a collaborative group of faculty committed to using evidence-based practices to support student learning. The department primarily provides courses to biology majors, future health professionals, and general education students. Highline is also home to the Marine Science and Technology center (MaST), a waterfront marine lab and aquarium that supports a strong marine science program. SALARY, CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT, APPLICATION PROCEDURE: A standard 170-day contract is written annually for the period of September to June. Late contracts will be prorated on the basis of work days remaining in the contract year. This position is exempt from the overtime pay requirements of The Fair Labor Standards Act.
This position is also eligible for a legislature funded High-Demand stipend issued on a quarterly basis. Currently, the stipend amount is approximately $2,760 per quarter. Three quarter total of $8,280.
This is a union represented position subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary, retirement, medical and insurance benefits are provided in accordance with state regulations and may be subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.
