The State of New Hampshire, NH Fish and Game Department has a full time vacancy for Biologist ll in Lancaster NH

Summary:
Develop, review, update and implement project-specific and property-wide wildlife habitat and stewardship plans for the 25,000-acre CT Lakes Natural Area and other state wildlife management areas (WMAs) in NH Fish & Game's Region 1; work with other regional biologists to design, collect and coordinate biological investigations on both game and nongame wildlife in Region 1.

Responsibilities:
Design, implement and conduct short-term and long range management plans for the purpose of achieving agency objectives on the Connecticut Lakes Natural Area and other Region 1 WMAs including road and facility maintenance, monitoring of public use, liaison with camp leaseholders, coordination of habitat management and research projects, supervision of contractors and temporary employees and general problem solving.
Prepare progress reports on management, stewardship and monitoring issues associated with the Connecticut Lakes Natural Area, the Connecticut Lakes Headwaters Working Forest, and other Region 1 WMAs.
Design, collect and coordinate biological investigations on wildlife projects in Region 1 including data collection for deer, bear, moose, waterfowl, small game, furbearers and nongame species; participates on the Wildlife Division's conflict abatement team assisting with mitigating wildlife-human conflicts.
Confer with interested parties including local and regional planning groups, conservation commissions and others on the wildlife habitat conservation needs in the region including habitat impacts of invasive exotic plants.
Review, update and maintain information on wildlife and wildlife habitat distribution and abundance for both game and nongame wildlife to determine current status and make recommendations; implements management and/or species recovery strategies.
Respond as a professional to public and governmental agency requests for technical information and assistance in areas such as field habitat assessment, environmental impact assessment and impact mitigation; provide technical assistance with forest and habitat management on public lands.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree
36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree
54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master's degree from a recognized college or university with a major in biology, wildlife or fisheries management, or a related biological science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Two years' experience in work at a professional level in wildlife, forestry, fisheries, or aquatic biology research management or in another field related to the area in which the vacancy exists. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education at the graduate level only.
License/Certification: Applicants for positions requiring field work must have or be able to obtain a New Hampshire driver's license during the probationary period.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have demonstrated knowledge and experience in wildlife research design and implementation, as well as data analysis and report writing.

PREFERRED WORK TRAITS: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of biology or other scientific research as it relates to wildlife resources. Considerable knowledge of forestry and habitat management, and the application and techniques involving mechanical, chemical or biological control of invasive exotic plants. Considerable knowledge of biological research analysis and management programs. Knowledge of wildlife chemical immobilization and animal handling techniques. Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise personnel and equipment needs. Ability to compile and analyze data, prepare tables and write reports of a technical nature. Ability to prepare and present talks on wildlife habitat and/or population management principles. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, officials and the public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
