COMPENSATION: $130,000-$150,000 per year. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 7.5% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply.
JOB OVERVIEW: As a member of Ambry's Advanced Analytics group, you'll be responsible for NGS data analysis, developing and maintaining our bioinformatics pipeline. This work will entail close interaction with a cross functional team of engineers, wet lab scientists, and clinicians with the goal of launching new products and improvements. A key component will be the design of new algorithms and analytics to enable new molecular readouts for clinical reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement new functionality or improvements to our production pipelines in a data-driven framework Work in conjunction with assay development scientists to plan and analyze experiments in novel assay development, troubleshooting, analytics development, and sustaining support of existing products Present results and progress to non-bioinformatic stakeholders Contribute analysis to peer-reviewed publications and assist with presentation at professional conferences REQUIREMENTS: 2+ years of bioinformatics experience in an industry (preferably CLIA) setting Proficient with Python in a distributed Linux environment. High level understanding of the molecular biology behind NGS Familiarity with common bioinformatic workflows and resources especially with respect to variant calling Experience with modern data analysis techniques (e.g., Jupyter notebooks, interactive charting) and using them in a reproducible fashion Proficiency with software engineering best practices (e.g., version control, unit testing, documentation) PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience with hybrid capture data Proficient with R Experience analyzing RNA-seq data Experience using long-read technology Familiarity with modern workflow engines (e.g.,NextFlow) Experience performing clinical validations. Strong communication skills EDUCATION: PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline plus at least 2 years post-doctoral research experience or industrial experience MS degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline plus at least 4+ years industrial experience Familiar with molecular biology, biological pathways, and genomics Strong knowledge of current theories and principals of bioinformatics and computational biology About Us: Ambry Genetics Corporation is a CAP-accredited and CLIA-licensed molecular genetics laboratory based in Aliso Viejo, California. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
