Job Purpose: Implement Waterfall Community Health Center's (WCHC) mission, philosophy, and goals in all activities. This position is responsible for leading, monitoring and maintaining the credentialing and re-credentialing process for Waterfall Community Health Center's providers, and must have an excellent knowledge of medical billing, be responsible, highly organized, and have a good eye for details. Billers must have the ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment, the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, employees, and the public, and of course they must also have a desire and dedication to work and have self-discipline. Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for collecting, posting, and managing account payments. Prepare and submit claims electronically or by paper.  Responsible for maintaining records of medical billing and claims, settlements, and medical insurance.  Answers questions from patients, staff, and insurance companies, as well as identify and resolve patient billing complaints.  As needed, verify the diagnoses and the procedures with providers. Calculate patient fee from sliding-scale fee schedule. Verify that required documentation was received from client. Check OHP and other eligibility on-line. Be available to assist the front office based on staffing. Attend occasional training course. Enter payments into practice management system. Prepare deposit and reconcile to practice management system. Assist in preparation of quarterly Medicare report (upon completion of training) Assist in preparation of Medicaid wrap reports. (upon completion of training) Other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Computer keyboarding and ability to chart within the Electronic Medical Records system. Attend scheduled staff and medical meetings unless excused. Ability to read, write legibly and converse effectively in the English language. Ability to read, write legibly and converse effectively in the Hispanic language preferred. Ability to solve problems utilizing appropriate resources. Adaptability and flexibility. Education and Experience: Prior experience in billing for a health care facility is preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent. Bilingual in Spanish/English, preferred. Two years current experience in medical office/billing applications. Priority setting ability and organizational skills. Excellent skills in verbal communication. LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT: Non-violent Crisis Intervention Comprehensive training class completed within 6 months of hire and recertify prior to the expiration date.  Current American Health Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Card (BLS) or within 6 months of hire. Immunizations Required: TB (test upon hire) Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working at a computer. Able to lift 15 pounds occasionally. Able to travel as needed.
