As a

Benefits Specialist , you will be responsible for administration, compliance, and coordination of employee group insurance and other welfare plans under established contracts and programs. Monitors welfare benefit programs, recommends, and counsels management on changes to improve and optimize the value and operation of these plans to the benefit of employees and the Company. Assists supervisor as directed.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Responsible for the administration of all employee benefit plans, such as medical, dental, ancillary benefits, life insurance, accident and disability insurance, COBRA, flexible spending programs, for both union and salary plans.
Serves as the subject matter expert for all benefit plans and first point of contact for employees regarding all employee benefits issues, concerns, and questions.
Research and recommend cost saving opportunities to senior leadership; ensures the successful implementation of new and/or revised benefit programs.
Responsible for leave administration (FMLA, PFL etc.), working with employees and TPA to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
Acts as the primary contact for vendors, benefit consultants and union reps on benefit and leave related matters.
Conduct new hire orientation, ensuring employees are enrolled and set up with applicable payroll deductions.
Manage annual open enrollment process, including creating educational materials, holding meetings, updating HRIS system.
Prepares and ensures the timely completion of new hire enrollments, annual enrollments, and life event changes.
Ensures that employee benefits-related reports ( e.g ., Form 5500, SARs, 1095s, etc.) are prepared and timely filed with governmental entities, as required.
Maintain data in the Lawson HRIS system and employee benefit files.
Processes weekly and monthly benefit invoices, reviewing and auditing for accuracy.
Responsible for the development of communications, educational and orientation materials, and publications.
Participates in and coordinates SRUSA community activities, including Wellness programs, United Way, holiday giving, etc.
Researches and resolves employee benefits issues and works with employee benefits service-providers to address questions and concerns.
Stays abreast of changes in existing laws, rules, regulations, and best practices applicable to the HR field, and, specifically, employee benefits.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline.
PHR/SPHR or CEBS certification preferred.
Minimum five (5) years progressive Human Resource benefits experience.
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to interact with all levels of Management and Associate personnel.
Excellent PC skills including use of Microsoft Excel, Word & Access software applications.
Strong HRIS skills, preferably utilizing Lawson software.
The pay range anticipated for this role is $70,000 to $110,000 per year. Please keep in mind that this range represents an estimate based upon requested experience and skill sets. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, experience, knowledge, skills, and may differ from this estimate.
