We are looking for an experienced Behavioral Health Counselor to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide group, family and individual counseling, crisis response and treatment for clients and their families. Supports and consults with medical providers, social workers, counselors and support staff. Develops treatment and aftercare programs for clients referred from courts, jail, social service agencies, medical facilities and other professionals. Mentors mental health interns. Works evening hours once or twice a week, if available.

Job Functions: include, but not limited to, the following:
Provides comprehensive intake interviews of patient's mental condition and psychosocial history. Develops and maintains individualized treatment plans. Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of the DSM-V. Provides direct billable services to children and adult clients. Within the scope of practice, provides mental health therapy to address exposure to trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, anger management, dual diagnosis, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, marital therapy, and all forms of mood disorders. Conducts assessments and provides counseling in therapist's office, via telehealth, or at FourPoints Medical Centers. Conducts appropriate group, family, or individual sessions, completes clinical case notes in the Electronic Health Record system to support billing. Establishes and maintains patient case files ensuring current quality standards as required by IHS, State and other contracts. May provide clinical supervision to Behavioral Health Counselor I, Behavioral Health Counselor Interns, and/or practicum students as assigned. Assists in creating/updating standardized forms and departmental policies. Establishes intervention and treatment programs within the scope of practice and appropriate to the needs of patients with behavioral health problems such as suicide prevention, women's groups, parenting groups, domestic violence prevention and treatment, and any other intervention programs. Reviews, substance abuse counselor's assessments and supplements findings with a mental health assessment to provide a thorough and professional substance abuse evaluation for courts, probation officers and other collaborative partners. Appears with clients in court as appropriate and available. Networks with schools and local agencies to enhance the referral process and meet patient treatment needs. Collaborates with partner agencies and participates in community coalitions to increase resources and better meet client and community needs. Develops and conducts focus group sessions and community-based prevention presentations. Coordinates with other PITU staff in providing multi-disciplinary approach to treatment. Attends departmental staff meetings. Meets weekly with clinical supervisor to staff cases and receive feedback. Attends professional training to acquire CEUs as per licensure. Supports co-workers. Other duties as assigned to support the efficient operations of the Tribe. Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to maintain a positive attitude with co-workers and clients. Demonstrates respect for and awareness of Native American customs and traditions. Knowledge of the principles and practices of clinical psychology and counseling techniques. Knowledge of current social and health problems related to psychological disorders. Knowledge of general case management/life skills services. Tools & Equipment Used: Computer, telephone, copy machine and fax machine. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is also required to occasionally walk; they are frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle or operate equipment, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and drive an automobile. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The work is performed in a clinical setting. The noise level in the work environment is mild to moderate. Requirements General Requirements: Must be insurable through the Tribe's vehicle insurance required. Must pass a criminal and fingerprint background check according to P.L. 101-630 standards required. Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening required. Must pass the Behavioral Health Counseling Credentialing process required. Education & Experience: Master's degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited school required. At least 4,000 hours post licensure experience required. Ability to supervise CSW's, ACMHC's, or ALMFT's required. License & Certification: Must possess, maintain, and provide proof of a valid Driver's License required. Must possess, maintain, and provide proof of a valid Utah LFMT, LCSW, LPC or CMHC License required. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, walk, hear, and use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.. Specific vision abilities required.by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to drive and operate a vehicle when required to cover staff at other locations. The Tribe reserves the right to require the employee to submit to and pass a physical examination prior to or during employment.
