Job Summary:
The Bartender will prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons, oversee the stock of liquor and bar supplies, and collect money for drinks served. Duties & Responsibilities: Receives orders from guests and waitstaff. Prepares and serves liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered. Ensures that fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening of the bar. Maintains the bar and keeps it clean and organized. Attractively displays glasses and liquor bottles. Keeps bar supplied with snacks. Ensures that guests are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs. Collects money from guests for drinks prepared and served. Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to guests who are intoxicated or disruptive. Submits orders or creates requisition forms for liquor, beer, and other bar-related supplies. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to listen and follow directions. Well-organized with ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately. Ability to follow safety rules and guidelines throughout the kitchen and restaurant. Ability to operate point-of-sale system. Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service. Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons. Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be at least 18 years old to serve alcoholic beverages. At least one year of related experience preferred. Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other related training preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds. Must be able to work nights and weekends.
