The Sima Family has owned the 3.5-acre site where Ghost Isle Brewery Bar & Restaurant now sits since the 1950's when Jim's grandfather purchased hundreds of acres in New Buffalo, MI. The Brewery overlooks 156 acres of wetlands that was donated by the Sima Family to Chikaming Open Lands, a non-profit organization that now maintains this Michigan state-designated "critical wetlands."
The beautiful, sweeping wetlands view to be enjoyed by patrons of Ghost Isle carries the name "Louis J Sima Great Lakes Marsh," after Jim's beloved Grandfather Louis J Sima. "Ghost Island" itself sits to the left and west of the brewery, and takes its name from generations of residents who played there as children and teens, and who claim there is supernatural activity on the island.
