Job Description Ensemble Schools is seeking a band instrument repair apprentice to work part-time under our senior repair technician at Creative Music Center, located in Monroe, CT, and named a NAMM Top 100 Dealer for 12 years running. Creative Music Center is a 5000 sq ft facility, which includes lesson, retail, rental and repair departments.
Hours will vary and average at 25 hours weekly.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- A degree from an accredited band instrument repair school.
- Recent graduates encouraged to apply.
- Rudimentary brass and woodwind repair skills.
- Basic play test knowledge. Instrumental virtuosity is welcome but is not a qualification for employment.
- Comfortability with the use of a 6ft ladder and lifting and moving cases/boxes.
- Basic computer and telephone skills.
- A pleasant attitude, listening skills, sense of humor, and ease in working closely with fellow employees.
- A robust appreciation for punctuality, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a routine background check.
The Creative Music Center Repair Shop is a 5-person workshop, repairing brass, woodwind, orchestral, and fretted instruments. The shop repairs rental fleet and privately owned and school-owned instruments. Technical experience and knowledge will be shared freely with the apprentice. evelopment of dexterity, mechanical intuition, and repair shop common sense will be a focus.
Pay is commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $18-20/hour. A 401(K) program with employer matching is available to all of our employees after 90 days on the job, and employees who average 30 hours or more per week are eligible for our health, vision, and dental offerings.
