Band Director, Assistant

Greenville ISD is seeking an Assistant Band Director - Percussion Director. Greenville
is located 30 minutes East of the DFW area. We are a 5A school district with a growing instrumental music program. The marching band received a Superior rating in 2023, and we have very talented and hard-working talented students. The community is very supportive of the band, and especially the drumline.

We are seeking a candidate for the Assistant Band Director/Percussion Director who will teach 6th grade beginning percussion, two middle school concert percussion sections, as well as the comprehensive percussion education program at Greenville High School (this includes the marching percussion section, winter percussion program, percussion solos and ensembles, concert percussion, and more based on vision and capacity), and other duties as assigned. This Director will also coordinate extracurricular percussion performances such as pep assemblies, football games, concerts, parades, etc. This position will assist the Director of Bands with all instructional and related tasks to provide the highest quality percussion education for our students at GISD.

REPORTS TO: GISD Director of Bands

REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's Degree in music education with percussion specialization
• Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate or enrollment in an Alternative Certification Program or equivalent
• Valid Texas Music Education Certification
• Knowledge of State and UIL policies governing music education

PREFERRED:
• Experience in both marching and concert percussion
• DCI/WGI experience
• Previous experience as Percussion Director or Instructor
• Knowledge of State and UIL policies governing music education
• Vision to continuously improve the program
