We are looking for a Backend Engineer that will join the Spotify Advertising team. You will use your strong backend engineering and data skills to expand and enrich our advertising offerings. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.What You'll DoWork day-to-day in a cross functional team to build and expand our Ads API and the underlying data systemsCollaborate with software engineers, product managers, and data scientistsDeliver testable, maintainable, and high-quality codeShare knowledge, promote best practices, and collaborate with some of the best engineers in the companyWho You AreYou know how to build and maintain Java backend servicesYou write clean, well tested, highly maintainable Java code with a clear separation of concernsYou have a good understanding of database systems such as postgres, and can optimise database interactions for scale and performanceYou have had exposure to Data Engineering pipelines eg Scala, Apache BeamYou are experienced with CI/CD pipelinesYou care about code quality, developing and demonstrating compelling solutionsYou are a good communicator and an empathetic, attentive listener with the capability to anticipate the needs of partnersYou are comfortable working in an agile environment, and are comfortable challenging yourself and your team to improve their ways of workingYou have delivered high impact backend projects that you can tell us aboutWhere You'll BeYou'll be based in Australia, within a region in which we have a work location (Sydney or Melbourne)Prefer an office to work from home instead?
